It’s Halloween so it’s only fitting that my child is suddenly scared of things. She has never been scared of anything and suddenly she is scared of the dark and scared of the neighbor’s dog barking (who she loves) and scared of lions. It’s annoying and I’d like to choke whoever taught her to be scared. She didn’t learn that from me.
Anyway, it’s been a pretty uneventful Halloween around these parts. I contemplated taking her to a party or to church, but in the end decided she would have fun passing out candy and I could be in my jammies. Well the trick was on me. I spent a whopping ten dollars on candy only for ONE child to show up. I won’t count the dusty little teenage boys that showed up sans costume because they got NADA.
Thankfully Regan had a pretty rockin Halloween party at school. The kids got to dress up and they had a party complete with pizza, chips and a pinata. She even brought home a cupcake that I let her enjoy, but ended up mostly on the floor. Then she wigged the hell out and I sent her to bed.

We celebrated Halloween together over the weekend. We met some friends at a local festival for some outdoor fun. The festival itself was pretty lame, but it was free and there were bouncy houses and hay rides so it was well worth it.
The festival was in a neighborhood and almost everyone there walked over from their homes. I loved the neighborhood because people really went all out decorating their yards. This is my kind of fun. This yard was huge and the spider web spanned over half of it. I bet they had plenty of trick or treaters.
How was your Halloween?

SUPER uneventful. I went to work dressed as a high school English teacher. My students were less than impressed. It’s cold here, so I sent my son to church with his grandmother. He came home with his face oddly painted and a brown bag full of candy. Just like last year, Halloween came and went very quietly around these parts.
Regan is adorable in her costume!!
I was so preoccupied with Sandy that I forgot to buy candy. So we slipped out the garage door before the trick or treaters got to the door. HA! We went to Carrabbas for dinner and I felt bad for all of 5 minutes. Then my Seafood Cannelloni and wine came and I forgot all of those bad feelings.
I don’t think that kids were out in force like previous years.
Took LG – who went as “Spiderman’s Bride” because she didn’t want to be plain old Spidergirl (exact same costume) – to a carnival at our church. On the way home she said she wished she could go trick-or-treating too. So I called my BIL and we met up with him & my niece and we went door to door for about 15 minutes, called it a night and everybody went home happy. It was a great night. I’m still not big on Halloween but I get a kick out of how much she enjoys it.
I gave out a ton of candy. Unfortunately, my two trick or treaters brought even more back. *sigh* Your mini me looks adorable!
